The administration of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora has suspended four students of International Business after an internal inquiry found them guilty of releasing toxic gas in a classroom few days back which had led to hospitalisation of five MBA students. Vice Chancellor IUST, Dr Mushtaq Siddiqui told Kashmir Reader that initial investigation by the Inquiry Committee has zeroed in on four students of International Business. “They were found indulging in serious indiscipline action. So we have suspended them from the University. Further action will be taken after the investigation is complete,” he said. Dr Siddiqui said the students were from the same batch but different section. “It was not the case of ragging but some rivalry between two sections of MBA first semester. We have taken strict action against them. And to prevent such action in future we have installed more CCTVs and deputed more security around the campus,” he added. Last week, five MBA first semester students were hospitalized in critical condition after ‘unknown persons’ released some toxic gas in their classroom. The sources had revealed that the incident was an alleged bid to bully a fresher batch of management department as it apparently looks the case of ragging. However, the VC has denied the bullying allegations.
